Tottenham's European adventure came to an end at White Hart Lane as the 4-0 deficit from the first leg in Madrid proved too much to turn around. Spurs had their chances but a howler from goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes gifted Cristiano Ronaldo and Real an away goal early in the second half and ended Spurs' hopes. Real will now play bitter rivals and tournament favourites Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Real Madrid swept ten man Tottenham aside on Wednesday winning their first leg quarter-final 4-0 in the Bernabeu. Two goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and a strke apiece from Jose Di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo made the difference whilst Peter Crouch was sent off after quarter of an hour. Spurs have it all to do in the second leg at White Hart Lane next week.
This season's Champions League just gets better and better for Harry Redknapp's Tottenham Hotspur side as the quarter-final pits the London club up against Real Madrid. Spurs have already played Inter and AC Milan in the competition and won't be afraid of this Spanish test as the competition's second favourites Real visit White Hart Lane. Spurs topped Group A ahead of Inter and lost just the one match away in Milan during the group stages. A good 1-0 aggregate win over AC Milan in the last sixteen leaves Spurs in the quarter finals at the first attempt.
Real Madrid are coasting in the Champions League this season. They breezed through Group G with relative ease, despite having AC Milan and French champions Marseille in the group. They then went on to beat Lyon in the last sixteen and get revenge for their loss to the French club at this stage last season. In Jose Mourinho Real have a manager who has won the Champions League twice before with Porto and Inter Milan last season.

Tottenham Hotspur Form
Spurs have surprised many in this season's Champions League. Winning Group A against the odds in a group containing Inter, Werder Bremen and Twente, losing just the one match away in Milan and top scoring in the group stages along the way. A tight 1-0 aggregate win over AC Milan in the last sixteen with Real Madrid the reward in the quarters.
Real Madrid Form
Real Madrid are unbeaten in this season's Champions League, beating Milan at the Bernabeu before scoring an injury time equaliser in Italy to keep up that unbeaten run. A narrow 1-1 draw in the first leg of their last sixteen tie was reminiscent of their knockout match with Lyon last season, before going on to win the return leg with ease 3-0.
