Champions League Match Tips

This weeks last sixteen matches:

It's the second legs of half the last sixteen matches this week and by Wednesday night, we'll know half of the quarter-finalists. On Tuesday, Arsenal must overcome a 2-1 deficit against Porto at The Emirates to qualify and we think they are a good bet to do that. Porto do not travel well, especially to London where they lost to Chelsea in the group stages and 4-0 against Arsenal last time the two teams played on English soil. Arsenal are 8/11 to qualify with bet365 and that looks a good bet to us.

Selection: Arsenal to qualify - 8/11

In tonight's other match, Fiorentina need to match Arsenal's plight and overturn a 2-1 deficit against Bayern Munich. We don't think this one will be so straightforward though as the Germans are in top form domestically and managed to get the result in Italy during the group stages, where they defeated Juventus 4-1 in Turin to guarantee progress to the knockout stages. The Germans are 6/4 with various bookmakers to win in Florence and we think that they will.

Selection: Bayern Munich win - 6/4

On Wednesday night, Manchester United should have enough to put out AC Milan and we think that backing in-form striker Wayne Rooney to score at anytime is the stand out bet at 11/10. Rooney has been in top goalscoring form of late and after a rest at the weekend the United talisman, who scored two in the first leg will net again at Old Trafford.

Selection: Wayne Rooney to score anytime - 11/10

Real Madrid find themselves a goal down to Lyon in their second leg tie at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night. Lyon's only defeat away from home this season in the Champions League was against Fiorentina in what was for all intense purposes a 'dead rubber'. A clean sheet at home a fortnight ago means the French team will be happy enough to sit and defend and look to hit a Madrid on the break. Madrid, still vulnerable in defense might need to win this game by more than two goals if they want to progress and we see Lyon to qualify at 13/10 as being the bet for this one.

Selection: Lyon to qualify - 13/10

Champions League Winner Tips

Chelsea have been knocking on the door for the last six seasons now and came a penalty or two from winning in Moscow two seasons ago. With newly installed manager Carlo Ancelotti at the helm we reckon they have the strength and creativity to go that extra step and lift the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Back Chelsea at 6/1 to win the Champions League with Ladbrokes.
