Italian champions for the last four years Inter have somewhat flattered to decieve when it comes to the Champions League. During that four year period, the Italians have failed to get past the first knockout stage since 2006 when they lost to Villareal in the quarter-finals. Each of the past two seasons Inter have lost to English opponents in the shape of Manchester United and Liverpool. Jose Mourinho has been employed with Europe very much in the owers eyes, especially when neighbours AC Milan have such an affinity with the competition.
Inter beat Chelsea 3-1 on aggregate to see off the English club in the last sixteen of the Champions League and look a force to be reckoned with in the competition this season.

The swap deal involving Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samuel Eto'o looks to be good business for Inter. Although undoubtful talent, the Swede Ibrahimovic has looked short at the top level in Europe whilst Eto'o's experience and power should help them. Favourites to retain their Serie A title it's still difficult to get too excited about Inter in Europe. They'll have an early tester against Barcelona in the group stages but we're not sure Mourinho's global looking squad have what it takes to win a Champions League.
