Bayern Munich v Inter Milan Odds
2nd Leg - Allianz Arena - Tue 15th Mar 2011
Bayern Munich are ninety minutes away from getting revenge for their Champions League final defeat to Inter a year ago, following their 1-0 win in the San Siro in this Champions League last sixteen match. Mario Gomez pounced on a Julio Cesar parry from an Arjen Robben strike in the 90th minute to give Louis Van Gaal's side a one goal advantage going into the second leg on the 15th March.
Bayern Munich have been drawn against Inter Milan in the Champions League last sixteen draw, a repeat of last season's final. Last May, it was Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan who prevailed 2-0 in the final in Madrid, but this season it is the Germans who will feel the more confident, after they topped Group E losing just the one match along the way. Five wins out fo six matches was enough for Louis Van Gaal's team to progress to the last sixteen.
Inter have stuttered as Champions League holders, under a new manager in the shape of Rafael Benitez. The Italians were favourites to progress from Group A as winners but a 3-1 defeat away at Tottenham, plus more dropped points against FC Twente and Werder Bremen means they could only finish as group runners-up and now face this tough last sixteen match against Bayern.

Bayern Munich Form
Bayern scored sixteen goals and conceded just six in their six matches in Group E. A 3-2 defeat in Rome was the only blip in an otherwise great group stage and the Germans were all but qualified for the last sixteen at that point. A 3-0 matchday six win over Basel was enough to secure top spot in Group E and now Bayern will look forward to gaining revenge over the Inter Milan.
Inter Milan Form
Inter struggled during their Group A campaign, winning just three of their six games. The Italians beat Spurs 4-3 at the Giussepe Meazza in Matchday 3 but lead in that game 4-0 at half time. The three second half goals conceded rather set the tone for the rest of the group campaign and although qualifying for the last sixteen comfortably in second, they would have preferred an easier draw as group winners.
