Current Form and Key Players

Hapoel are in this year's Champions League courtesy of winning the Israeli Premier League last season and they have had to come through three rounds of qualifying just to reach the group stages. Wins over Sarajevo, Aktobe and an impressive play-off win over Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg means that they will line up in the group stages.

There aren't many household names to speak of in the Hapoel team, but many of the squad are homegrown and in defender Walid Badir they have an Israeli international with over 70 caps and experience of English football with Wimbledon. Former Chelsea player Ben Sahar will spend the season on loan from Spanish side Espanyol so he is a player to look out for up front.
