CSKA are on their third manager of the season, after Brazilian Zico left for Olympiakos at the start of the season, Spaniard Juande Ramos had an unsuccessful few months at the helm before Leonid Slutsky took over in November.

CSKA Moscow have won the Russian Premier League on three occassions but the last of these was in 2006. The Russians were runners up last season which enabled them to qualify for the Champions League.
