The German champions are many peoples fancy as a dark horse in this season's competition thanks to them finishing top of a group who contained Real Madrid, Ajax and Manchester City.
Following a first leg 2-2 draw in Donetsk, goals from Felipe Santana, Mario Gotze and Jakub Blaszczykowski were enough to see off Shakhtar and Jurgen Klopp's side progress to the quarter finals.
