Swiss side Basel have made Champions League football somewhat of a regular occurrence, as they qualify as champions of the Swiss Super League, a title they have won fourteen times and six times in the last eleven years. Basel qualified for the Champions League last year but failed to get out of their group as they finished third. The Swiss side will be considered outsiders for the Champions league title and may well struggle to get out of their group again.

2010/11 Champions League Fixtures.
Basel qualified for the Champions League group stages courtesy winning the Swiss Super League and while they have been a dominant force in Swiss football in recent years, progress in Europe has been somewhat slower.
Basel's talisman is undoubtedly the Swiss International Alexander Frei, who leads the line in attack. Frei is at his second spell at the club and has previous Champions League experience at Borussia Dortmund. Frei is partnered in attack by Swiss international Marco Streller who has been banging in the goals for Basel since 2007.
