2010/11 Champions League Last Sixteen Draw

The knockout stage draw will take the winners and runners-up from each of the eight Champions League groups. A team cannot be drawn against another team from the same country in the last sixteen, nor can they be drawn against a team for whom they played in the group stages. Arsenal face a tough match up against tournament favourites Barcelona whilst Spurs will have to beat AC Milan to progress. Chelsea and Marseille have drawn Copenhagen and Marseille respectively.

The draw for the 2010/11 Champions League last sixteen stage took place on the 17th December 2010 and the matches will be played out over the 15th-16th & 22nd-23rd February 20100 and the 8th-9th & 15th-16th March 2011.

2010/11 Champions League Group Stages Draw

32 teams will go into the hat for the 2010/11 Champions League group stages, making up eight groups of four teams. The draw for the group stages will take place on Thursday 26th August and the teams have been divided into four seeded pots, based on their UEFA coefficient. A team from each pot will be drawn to create a group of four. No team can be picked to play in a group with a team from the samedomestic league, which means that Spurs cannot be drawn against any of the other three English Clubs.

2010/11 Champions League Play-off Draw

The play-off draw is the final stage before the Champions league group stages are made at the end of August. The teams playing in the play-off are made up of ten teams who have come through the third qualifying round and qualified for the competition initially as winners of their domestic league championship (champions). The remaining five places in the play-off go to two teams who have qualified as third place in their domestic divisions, from football associations 4 and 5, plus three fourth placed teams from associations 1-3. England, Spain and Italy make up the asscociations 1-3, so this year, Spurs, Sampdoria and Sevilla had to play in the Champions League play-offs due to finishing fourth in their domestic leagues last season.
